The extravagant wraparound colonial revival porch added to the yellow building is a prominent landmark in a row of gracious townhouses built by the founders of Montpelier.
In creating The Inn at Montpelier great care has been given to retaining architectural details - the Greek and colonial revival woodwork, the ten fireplaces, the gracious front staircases, the glass fronted china cupboards, to name a few, have all been preserved. The Inn is a part of Montpelier's national historic district and takes us back to an era of gracious living.
Organized as a town in 1791 and made the permanent capital of Vermont in 1805, Montpelier VT offers a variety of historic, recreational, educational and cultural activities. Situated on the Winooski and North Branch Rivers which wind through the City, Montpelier is the heart of Vermont. It is just twenty-five miles from four major ski areas and the many lakes and streams nearby are ideal for fishing and water sports. The surrounding Vermont skiing mountains offer hiking, cross country skiing or scenic drives.
The two buildings that comprise The Inn at Montpelier have a rich and varied history intimately related to the development of Vermont's capital city. Both buildings were originally constructed as residences during the town's early settlement. They became connected through ownership at an early date and, with the exception of the years 1924 to 1940, have remained under single ownership throughout their history. The opening of the Inn at Montpelier in 1988 has highlighted the historic connection between two of Montpelier's structures.
The 19 guestrooms all have private baths, cable TV, telephones with data ports and individual heat & AC controls. Our deluxe rooms have wood burning fireplaces as well as five others in the Inn's common areas.
We serve an extensive Continental breakfast, which consist of fresh fruit, homemade jams, lemon curd, granola and muesli, plus all the baked goods are made at LaBrioche Bakery, which is part of NECI (The New England Culinary).
While at the Inn, enjoy walking to shops and restaurants, live theater productions, museums and just relaxing in our many common areas or porches.
