The Island Home is a charming Victorian, set on a hill between the village of Old Harbor, and Block Island's Great Salt Pond. The inn offers spectacular views of the harbor and ocean, and surrounding landscape of rolling hills and ponds, in a comfortable, home-like setting. The Island Home's sprawling lawns and open layout make the inn ideal for families looking for a quiet retreat. Roses cascade over stone walls, and perennial gardens and wildflowers abound.
Rooms in the main inn are freshly decorated in a classic country style, warm and inviting. The carriage house offers rooms with private decks and sweeping views. Sip lemonade and rock on the front porch, or watch the kaleidoscope of colors as the sun sets over the hills and water behind the inn.
In the early evening, we serve an afternoon tea in the parlor. After your day of adventure, return to enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres, lemonade, and desserts still warm from our oven.
Your stay at The Island Home includes breakfast served in our dining room, with fresh-baked pastries, homemade breads, fresh fruit, and hearty entrees.


The Main House
In the original Victorian farmhouse, guest rooms are located on the second and third floors, with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, New Harbor, Trim's Pond, and the scenic countryside from the rear decks and many rooms. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, decorated in a sunny, Victorian-Country style. Most rooms have private baths; Two rooms share a bath, making a convenient arrangement for families or couples traveling together.

At the inn, make yourself at home outside on the lawn and porches. We have picnic tables and cozy spots to relax in the sun or shade; and plenty of space for children to play safely. We have a chest full of outdoor games for adults and children alike. Croquet, anyone? How about a friendly game of bocce? Enjoy the gardens and cascading roses, lounge in a hammock, or watch the sun set over the hills and the water. The Island Home is an ideal location for family reunions or group getaways; plan a barbecue on the patio or have us cater your party.

We offer rentals of fishing equipment, and can arrange for guided salt-water and fresh-water tours if you'd like to fish the local hot spots.

Twin Maples Bait & Tackle is just down the road, and at the end of your day, you can grill your catch (or your fresh local lobsters) back here at the inn.

Right behind the inn, you'll find New Harbor, where bikes, cars, or kayaks can be rented, and the marinas offer everything a boater might desire. Walk just around the corner for English pub fare, great seafood and steaks, and have ice cream or drinks on Payne's Dock.

Block Island's pristine beaches are a quick walk down to the end of Beach Avenue, and the miles of hiking trails and the scenic bluffs and lighthouses are a short ride away, on two wheels or four.

Head less than a mile down Ocean Avenue to reach Old Harbor, the heart of Block Island's Historic District, for shopping and galleries, as well as dining and entertainment to suit all tastes.Rent a moped, or enjoy the Victorian architecture of the historic seaside village.
